Le cognitivisme est une théorie psychologique qui met l’accent sur l’étude des processus mentaux tels que la perception, l’attention, la mémoire, la pensée, la résolution de problèmes, la compréhension du langage et la prise de décision. Le cognitivisme considère l’esprit humain comme un système de traitement de l’information, qui traite les informations entrantes à travers des processus tels que l’encodage, le stockage et la récupération de l’information. Les cognitivistes utilisent des méthodes scientifiques pour étudier les processus cognitifs, y compris des expériences comportementales et des techniques d’imagerie cérébrale. Cette approche a été très influente dans le développement de domaines tels que l’intelligence artificielle, les sciences cognitives et la neuropsychologie.
